August 2016

End of summer, heat wave and thunderstorms! I’m settling into the aftermath of the Kickstarter – thanks so much, everyone! Taking on a few new banjo students, and some new upcoming performances, including Hometown Getdown (headliner this year – Cris Jacobs! Check it out), and planning to teach at the Maryland Folk Musician’s Retreat next June. Planning a microshow at Asparagus Media, and getting back into the kitchen with my working project there – more on that to come. My sister Emily Martin and I really got inspired at the Irish Catskills, and my brother Fiddlin’ Claude has been hard at work with his own projects, including a new jam in Damascus; it was fun and very well attended. Jeanean Martin went to the Midwest to teach dulcimer, and then onward to California with Emily, teaching a painting workshop that also included music workshops by Karen Ashbrook and Paul Oorts. I’ve been here working on getting the CD order in and also doing soe family stuff. Already looking forward to autumn in Maryland.
